The Beacon Station is an 89-minute ride from Grand Central on the Hudson Line and 0.7 miles from The Dutchess Inn. Sometimes, taxis are readily available at the station, but it's always best to plan ahead (scroll down for taxi services).
The Beacon Free Loop runs Monday through Saturday, making six stops at key locations on Main Street and throughout Beacon. The Dutchess Inn & Spa is located half a block West from the #2 stop at Cliff Street and Main. You can hail the bus, which will stop to pick you up anywhere on its loop—"simply wave and ride!" Notable stops include the train station, the West and East ends of Main Street, and the Mt. Beacon Trailhead.
The scenic 9-minute trip across the Hudson costs $1.75 and runsMonday through Friday. The ferry is a great way to easily travel to Newburgh's popular waterfront restaurants. The terminal is located just across from the train station platform's main exit.
The trolley ride along scenic Route 9D costs $1.75 and runs onSaturdays and SundaysfromJune 1st to November 10th. The Trolley is a great way to take a day trip to neighboring Coldspring and stops at many popular destinations along the way (see complete list on schedule).
The Trolley operates on a flag system, meaning that, aside from fixed stops, any rider may request a stop along the route, and potential riders can "flag" the bus down by waving within view of the bus from a safe sidewalk or shoulder of the road.
